Thank you to everyone who entered such amazing images in our weekly iPhone photography contest. This week’s theme was “Black & White” and we had so many fantastic images submitted. Removing color can create incredibly powerful photos, emphasizing shapes, lines, textures and light. While it was difficult to pick just 30 winners, here are my favorite iPhone photos that work so well in black and white.

How to Enter the Next Photo Contest
Last week we published a great tutorial that explored 6 Creative Ways To Capture Incredible Abstract iPhone Photos.
Abstract photography is a fascinating genre that allows you to present ordinary subjects in a unique and imaginative way. It requires you to get really creative with your photos, producing stimulating images that grab and hold the viewer’s attention.
To create an abstract image, you need to focus on design elements like shapes, lines, patterns, colors and textures, or look for interesting reflections, shadows and light.
Then fill the frame with these elements to create a wonderfully mesmerizing image that really draws the viewer in.
So the new contest theme is Abstract. To participate, simply tag your abstract iPhone photos using IPS2015Abstract tag on EyeEm.
You can tag photos in the description field when you upload them, or when you edit the description of a photo that has already been uploaded (tap the three dots icon to edit a photo).
All photos must be shot and edited on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Please upload photos to EyeEm in full resolution and without any watermarks to make sure we can feature them on the website. Please do not submit more than 10 photos each week.
The submission deadline is Sunday, September 27. Winners will be announced on Monday, September 28, and the winning images will also be featured on our iPhone Photography School Facebook page.
