Pionusmom says
Some pictures pleased me. Afew irritated me. Several confused me. A very few I reall disliked. And then there were those that made me smile. That made my heart sing. Two I’d like to have on my wall.
None bored me.

Where do we actually post the images. Is it iPhone Photo Academy?
Kate Wesson says
Hi Mike. You have to post them on EyeEm with the appropriate tag for the current contest theme. You can find details on how to do this at the bottom of each week’s contest winners post: http://iphonephotographyschool.com/rule-of-thirds-photos/
Let us know if you need any help 🙂

A lot of stunning photographs here! Just one question – the people’s who’s photos are submitted have an @userid – it would be nice to have a link to their profile or the photo to place a specific like/comment on the photo (e.g.. Instagram/EyeEm/Flickr etc). Cheers!

Anthony Maw says
Nice photos but I comment that much of the “creative” effect was done by an app – it’s not like the photographer started with a great composition and edited it using basic tools. Nowadays anybody can download apps like Hipstamatic, Pixlr, etc. and create eye catching pseudo-art. I suppose if the end result is visually appealing then that’s all that counts.
Kate Wesson says
Hi Anthony, you’re right that some of the photos have had creative effects applied using apps, but in my opinion they’re all still great compositions and any effects applied have enhanced the image. A photo that was badly composed or badly lit to start with would never look good, no matter how many effects you applied. It’s the combination of interesting subject matter, thoughtful composition, good lighting and exposure, as well as effects that suit the image, that make all of the above great photos with strong visual appeal. App effects can definitely ruin an image, but when applied subtly or with creative flair they can really enhance a photo. Exactly the same thing can be done in the darkroom with film photography to create interesting and artistic effects. Like you say if the result is visually appealing, that’s what counts – although photography and art is very subject so what one person likes another may not, but I see that as a good thing as it encourages variety and diversity. I always like to hear other’s opinions about photography as everyone thinks differently and it makes a great debate! 🙂
