The rule of thirds is one of the essential composition techniques to master in photography, and this was the theme for our weekly iPhone photography contest. Thank you to everyone who entered their wonderful photos composed with the subject or horizon off-centre. With 477 entries there were so many great photos to choose from, but here are my personal favorites.

How to Enter the Next Photo Contest
Last week we published a tutorial showing you how to create stunning silhouette photos with your iPhone. It contained tips and techniques on lighting, exposure, subject matter, composition and editing.
So the new contest theme is Silhouettes, and any iPhone photos where the subject appears as a dark silhouette against a bright background can be submitted.
To participate, simply tag your iPhone photos using IPSSilhouette tag on EyeEm. You can tag photos in the description field when you upload them, or when you edit the description of a photo that has already been uploaded (tap the three dots icon to edit a photo).
All photos must be shot and edited on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Please upload photos to EyeEm in full resolution and without any watermarks to make sure we can feature them on the website. Please do not submit more than 10 photos each week.
The submission deadline is Sunday, February 22.
