Thanks for participating in our weekly iPhone photography contest. This week the contest theme was light, and about 350 photos showing extraordinary light, shadows and silhouettes were submitted. While it wasn’t easy to pick the winners, here are my favorites this week.

How to Enter the Next Photo Contest
People often ask me what separates good photos from really great ones, and while there’s no easy answer to that question, many of the most powerful photos convey strong emotions.
That’s why the new contest theme is emotions, and you can submit any photos that convey or show emotions.
To participate, simply tag your photos using IPSEmotions tag on EyeEm. You can tag photos in the description field when you upload them, or when you edit the description of a photo that has already been uploaded (tap the three dots icon to edit a photo).
All photos must be shot and edited on iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Please upload photos to EyeEm in full resolution and without any watermarks to make sure I can feature them on the website. Please do not submit more than 10 photos each week.
The submission deadline is Sunday, June 1.

thanks for featuring my photo! congrats to other winners!
BTW this week theme seems even more challenging than IPSnoFilter!
Even though it is sometimes hard to interpret emotions, you always know
when a photo conveys such!

It’s not supposed to be easy, but challenging in a creative way 🙂

Such wonderful photos, especially the very first one. I am curious how dinalf was able to get such smooth rich shadows and without any digital noise using just an iphone!
Emil Pakarklis says
The exposure was probably locked on the highlights or even somewhere else to keep the photo dark, and the processing was probably done in VSCO. That’s my guess 🙂
Joey says
That sounds like a very good guess! I’m gonna have to give that a try sometime. I’m new to iPhone photography and I must say this website is a blessing! Thank you for all of the wonderful articles and info, Emil!
